Right temp to start night stalking?

Hi All, Im wondering what the right temps are to start trying a nightstalk? I'll be fishing Wylie and wanted to give it a shot in the next couple weeks, but dont want to waste my time if they wont be moving. I tried looking for some info, but couldnt find anything. Also looking for the right temp / time to start trolling for them. My freezer is empty and I'm sick of this cold.

I'm no expert, but I have seen some of the most well known Crappie.comer's night fishing pretty much all winter long.

You can night stalk any time of year does not really matter water or air temp, if you got the right clothing to do it in the cold!! You fish areas that the fish would be at that time of year. I myself would like to see it warm up a bit personally before I start night stalking. Most of the time when the good hard runs of the spawn has gone and they are moving back out to deeper water. The lake comes alive during the day and calms back down and can go and so some relaxing at night.

I have night fished High Rock about this time of year in the freezing rain and sleet and caught crappie on the bottom in 13' of water. Fish where they are and weather don't matter.

Good to know, I might have to give it a shot this weekend. I dropped some fresh trees down last month and have been itching to see if anything has taken up residence yet.

Like others have said you can fish at night year round but my experience is from late May to mid September is the best.

Nightstalked and returned to ramp only to find the ramp a solid sheet of ice. Get after them, they don't know weather above the surface is bi-polar.

The nightstalk was successful. They werent biting hard, but it was steady action all night with a few keepers to show for it. Glad I tried.
