Went to McGehees Mill in the morning before launching at Hyco. Fished for 2.5 hours without a nibble in the 42* water. Decided to take out and go for some warmer water at Hyco. Water temp was 43* at the boat ramp but quickly jumped to 50's near the main bridge. Thought I would concentrate my efforts in warm clear water. It was a tough day with the wind and lots of my best water was cold and muddy. I had to scramble in the short time remaining. Ended the day with about a dozen keepers avg size 11". The best thing was I was forced to explore new areas and caught all fish from new structure. Like many times the toughest days you learn the most. I was happy with my catch considering the recent weather brrrrrr...we need some warmer days !!
