Havent been reporting much. Been busy either working, or fishing during some prime cold water months! have had several consecutive trips out on norman the end of 2013 and front half of 2014. found a massive school of striper where we were having 15-20 fish mornings. problem is they were all "cookie cutter" striper 17-19 inch fish. probably the batch from the last mass stocking they had. were able to pick a few big ones out of them however.
Had a trip on a rainy and cold day 1-5 then on a overcastmorning/sunny afternoon on 1-6 and put an absolute hurting on some big fish. Didnt dare go once that cold snap hit hard until last Friday in the rain on 1-10 and again put a hurting on some fish. been a while since ive seen fish on top, birds working, massive schools of bait so thick you couldnt troll through them or else your lines would twist up after snagging shad. Best part of it was that we were the only brave soles out! around noon decided to play with some crappie and made one stop on my go to winter hole and jigged up 21 keepers in under 1 hr. biggest was 2.1, 1.8, 1.6 a few near a pound then several in the 9-10 inch class.
Lots of catch and release the last few trips, but some were freezer filling trips expecting several cookouts while the panthers made a playoff run! bummer!!
here are a handful of pics ive kept off my facebook for all the haters and PITA people lurking around......not in any particular order.
Cant catch them sitting on the couch whinning how cold it is ladies!!
Its time to start focusing on some slab cold water wylie crappie once this mud clears![]()
Thats a whopper 5 lb spotted bass in the pic with the crappie:
