After work and errands , I decided to head to Swift Island to try what seems like a decent spot from shore. My thinking was with it being a weekday , the traffic would be light , but it wasn't. I expected as much being so close to the ramp. I tried for crappies and cats with minnows , livers , and pieces of a large American shad given to me by a guy in a sky blue boat. No crappies were caught , but I landed a 5 pound blue on a piece of cut perch on a hump in 20^ feet. An hour later , I left and headed upstream to Morrow Mountain , only to land a small channel. Called it quits at 6:30 , made it back by 9. I may head out there Friday or Saturday , IDK. The battery in my camera was dead at the time of arrival at the ramp.
