Hey JMK, I wish I could help, but I'm not familiar with that area. I'm in the foothills of NC, (Morganton), about 1 & 1/2 hours from Sylva, & I don't know a thing @ the Sylva area. Please don't think anyone's ignoring your request, this is a great group, always willing to help, we just don't really have many members from the mountains that are active on the board. I'd be glad to advise on the foothill lakes - James, Rhodhiss, or Hickory if you are interested.

Yeah to what Skeeterguy said. We just don't know much about the mountain lakes. Most of our members are in central and eastern NC. Very, very few posts from west of us and we are in Morganton. Good luck. I don't know how far it is to Fontana, but it's supposed to be good for nightfishing for walleyes, smallmouth and I think crappie, but just not too sure.

Thanks guys for the info. I have never been there so this should be interesting... Sounds like I might have to drive a little further to find some Crappie fishing.

    Thanks!
