Default Finally found them at Kerr Scott

I fished from about 8:00 to 12:00 today and caught about 60, kept a few to eat,. Most of them was about 12 ft down in 22 ft water. They did come up to about 8 ft around lunch time. I cant figure out why the are out in the water at that depth for this time of year. The water was 66 degree, I would have thought they would have been a little closer to the bank. What gives????

I agree with MoSkeeter. The fish seem to be behind normal on most of the lakes this year. From our results on High Rock last week there are no doubt a lot of fish still to spawn. Same for Rhodhiss and Norman is behind too. Seems to me like everything is about 2 weeks later than normal, whatever "normal" is...I think May is going to be a good fishing month.

There has been several trees fell around the banks and some is near deep water. Most of the fish I have caught in the last few days has been in deeper water over brush that I put in last fall. I have caught most of them with minnows and just a few on jigs. I caught some in the creek channel on some bamboo and there are not many old standing trees in the lake. I only know of a few that still have enough limbs on them to hold fish. I wish some of those fallen trees were dragged out into the lake but It aint happening. The corp puts out christmas trees every year but they dont last anytime at all. It is a hard lake to fish but has some really nice crappie in it if you can get past the small ones. Anyway it is always fun to catch some.
