    Default DMV registration nightmare

So I went in to renew the registration on my Jon boat. They complete the paperwork and off I went. Well it turns out the registration has someone else's name and boat info but my address. Simple enough, I'll just go back and they will fix, wrong. I have to wait 3 weeks until they get the paperwork from Albany or I can register again and pay again. I turned down that option now today I find out the info they need will not be available for maybe 3 months. They made the friggin error and I have to wait or pay again for a new registration. I guess for the next 3 years my 12 ft boat will be running the waterways as a 16ft vhull something or another. Wait until the poor guy finds out I'm fishing and he has to deal with idiots.

That's New York State for ya. 3 months in NY we will be shoveling snow again.

I wish you luck my friend. Hope someone here can give you some advise.

This is why my son and I fish out of Kayaks. Plus you can power them all day on a few Bologna Sandwiches and a Gatorade.

Update: Beginning of June I called the DMV back. They claimed they still didn't have the paperwork back from Albany. I was polite and appologized they had to go through all this with me. Then I mentioned I was going to contact state senator Seward's office to see if they could help move the paperwork along. Would you believe the very next day after contacting the senator's office I get a call from the DMV in Oneonta. They received the paperwork and my new registration was in the mail with no further charges to me. Yeehaa I said and thanked them. Called the office of the senator and they couldn't take the credit for getting it done. Turns out they didn't get a chance to call anyone yet but the paperwork magically appeared at the DMV. You gotta love it.

Good to hear Catphish - Glad everything worked out for you.

I was at the DMV yesturday for my wife. There were a couple of guys at the window for half an hour (or maybe longer - they were there when we got there) to get a boat registered. Sounded like they bought a boat out of state and wanted to register it for NY. Needless to say things didn't go well for them and they didn't get anything resolved.

Have a safe summer and catch lots of fish.
Wishing you Blue Skies and Tight Lines
