LOL@joe ... you sound like someone speaking from experience... LMAO Your secret is out! Now I know where you perform your field testing...;)
I don't know much about where you are, but weather down here bites!!! (and I'm not referring to fish either.. :p) Can't catch a break!!! With all the rain we've had (especially in March), how can they say we're practically 'starving' for it? At one point, I thought I would have to build an arc in my backyard!!!! :p
Seriously, weather has been really drab lately. Still waiting patiently
looked at the weather report.... Friday looks very promising!!! low 70 is expected. Looks like I will attempt to hit the water on Friday (fingers crossed)
update... it may be windy :( Think I'll wait for weather report late Thursday eve :( :p
Im up in Dutchess county, and wouldn't mind traveling to 'hook up' with a more experienced crappie fisherman. I usually only ice fish for them, but now I'd like to hit em up during the soft season.
How deep are you finding them this time of year?
Thanks,
kb
hey gang. i just joined the site. i just started crappie fishing last year. i did very well last saturday. the weather is improving now. of coarse, i have work, and a fire company flower sale this weekend!
POOLEY, I read your posts on IS and MFF all the time. Welcome, took you long enough.
Anyway read alot on here and ask questions, I forget but are you in SE NY?? Scroll through everything!! Learn from the guys down south..
yeah, i'm in rockland county.
Hey FBM357, easy buddy. You are NOT the last of your species. :) I am from NYC too. I have several boats on Westchester reservoirs as well. One on Kensico, New Croton, Titicus, Cross River & Amawalk. I made these videos on Kensico.. While they are promotions for my company, they are just to show you the reservoir.

Penfishingrods,
I see you've many boats in many areas! Thumbs Up From the likes of your vids, I see you like Bass fishing! I frequent Mohansic (Yorktown Heights) and they have plenty of Bass there! I've fished Amawalk, Muscoot, Cross River, Sodom and Brewster. All have good fishing. Though I like bass fishing (or any fish that decides to gobble my bait :p ), I really like crappie, bluegills, yellow perch (Cross River is great for these) and catfish.
Weather so far has sucked big time! At this rate, I'll be doing saltwater before freshwater!
Yeah FMB357,
The weather sux big time right now. I live vicariously through videos on youtube during messed up weather days. :(
I like fishing for pan fish & crappies too. New Croton reservoir is perch & crappie nirvana! The shores look like the moon during the spawn from all of the nests. At night when I flash a light through the water on the shores there are literally millions all over chasing eachother & fighting for their piece of the American perch dream & aqua turf. :)
