Not fishing much these days. Trying to get back to normal after a lot of life happened suddenly. Anyhow I guess Mudge has a shocking experience in his future! My two year old Golden (Lucy) has one in her future also I think. My father-in-law got one for their lab and it worked for them pretty quick. I put it on Lucy once and when I hit that button she left the ground! I felt bad about doing it but I think she needs it due to not immediately responding when I call her.
Two weeks ago the last straw was broke and Mudge has a "Restraining Bolt" now.. He's Learning :)
As stated above. Used correctly they can produce wonderful results. At the same time you can ruin a dog and break his spirit. Need to use a complete program to really get best results. My buddy had a pack of fox hounds and he could open the tailgate and dogbox. They would stand at the ready until he called them by name. He could load them anytime he needed. Even broke up a few races when the approached a highway. But all this take time and a good program. I also recommend a whistle as it can be heard when the voice can't. My old lab (Wendy) proved that to me. And spend the money on a good whistle. Like everything else thay are not all created equal.
This one has a "Positive" and "Negative" tone good up to 100 yards, which is good for us because he doesn't to go that far away... So far, I'm having good luck with it..
