    Default Oil Leak

If you run a Mercury and wind up with 2 cycle oil on the garage floor like I did, a cracked cap on the oil reservoir may be your problem. It's hard to see if you aren't specifically looking for it. This seems to be a fairly common problem. Usually caused by the vacuum breaker valve failing. That valve is a brass T-fitting on the drivers side of the motor. In my case it was because the ground wire for the cap was broken.

That's better than other reasons there could be oil on the floor. Glad it was simple fix.
