Size: 87.1 KBGot down to the farm Saturday evening, son says, " Do you think we'll get one?". I say, I don't know but we're in a good spot! Got set up by 3pm and started seeing deer by 3:15 but none close enough for the old 30/30! About 5pm we had two does at 60yds and the buck fever set in!!!!! I look over at my son and he has this look on his face that would make you think he had seen a GHOST...... I tell him to calm down and wait as they were walking straight to us and just then a real nice 8 point steps out at 45yds, now the buck fever is 10 fold-- cold sweat-- trembling hands-- racing heart...... again I whisper calm down and put it on his front shoulder- squeeze the trigger gently- just like we practiced! BOOM, the deer looks at us unscathed and trots back into the timber, a clean MISS! I say, What did you see in the sights? Joey says, I don't know I was shaking so bad it was blurry!!!! Disappointed and broken hearted we head back to camp for some most delicious chili dogs! Fast forward to Sunday morning, got to the field right at shooting time, 10 minutes later this beautiful 6 point walks past our blind and stops broadside at 25yds.......BOOM, big buck down, dead in his tracks!!!!! Again I say, what did you see in the sights? Joey says all I saw was brown! I laugh and tell him good job the 30/30 is going to get another notch in the stock. It was a very special hunt for us and a thousand times more memorable than my own first deer! Hope you all enjoy the PICS......

It doesn't get any better than that!
