Getting time to retire the old Ford

It is 20 years old and has been a good truck. My parents bought it new and when my dad died mom gave it to us and she bought a car. We have had it 16 years. Oil has been changed every 3,000 miles and motor seems to be good. Just several others things not right and the transmission is the big one. It was acting up a couple of years ago and had the fluid changed and that helped but it is acting up again and 1 of these days it is going to go out. Plus it needs brakes, front end work, new tires, fix something loose in door, dash loose, rusted out wheel wells in back and other dings. But it still goes. But there comes a time when you have to make the decision as to put a lot of money into it and it will still be an old truck or get a new one. Went looking last night and found a couple of trucks. It is difficult to find a regular cab 4X4 truck. They all want to sell you 4 door trucks or at least extended cab. Found 1 ford and 1 chevy. The Ford has towing pkg. and running boards already on it. Us older people with short legs need help getting in. Plus they have made the trucks taller. The tops of the bed hits me at my eye brows. I can't even look in the back of it. Like the body style of the Dodges but will NOT give Chrysler any money. When they screw you on an extended warranty you remember. the body style of the chevy is ok except for what they did to the fender wells on the bed. Just looks a little strange. OK I am being picky but when you talk about the money they want for a new ride you can be picky.

Not a used car salesman I'm guessing? Might be the worst sales pitch ever.

hate to hear you dont like dodge , been a dodge driver since 19 years old, not one problem with the warranties. but once burned twice shy, some of the new trucks may have them extendable brake pedals, some cars do. Toyota makes a great truck, so does GMC....... hope you find what your looking for, and the running boards, easy peasy to install I did mine and they still are on the truck....... luck to ya
