    Default What a camp

Most of us survived another camp at Truman. We should have planned it for July or August when we needed the rain. Can't have a camp with out a cold front and rain to try and ruin the fishing and good times. It did not work this time. Fishing really picked up by weekend. Got to meet several newer members that made their first trip to a Truman camp. Had some storms come thorough and dump some heavy rain but we had a pretty good shelter setup and we made it through our meals and had a good time around the fire also. A huge thanks to Buckwheat for all his hard work and great cooking skills. There was enough food for all of Henry county and it was all very very good. Thanks to everyone that brought items to prepare the meals, food for the meals and plates and utensils to eat it with. I hope everyone had ssfe travels back home. Can't wait for the next one.

My wife and I experienced our first Crappie camp and had a great time eating the tasty food, sitting around the campfire listening to the stories, and getting to meet some of the CDC good old boys. I especially want to say thanks to everyone for making my wife and I feel so welcome.
Man, I heard so many fishing tips I couldn't remember them all.

My wife passed judgment on Buckwheat's BBQ chicken and told me it was "The Best" BBQ chicken she had ever tasted.

Saturday morning we ate breakfast at the marina. I've had birthday cakes that were smaller than the giant pancakes they serve there .....
Stopped by headquarters to say goodbye but everyone was fishing..... Caught Jared as we were leaving
Looking forward to the next one...
I have not yet begun to procrastinate .....

Made my first truman camp this past weekend. Left friday morning at 4:45 am and arive in camp at 8:00 am to find Jared with his boat ready to go. Got on the first hot spot and ran into Hogster and his son and Dale and Rick. Jared was putting fish in the boat constantly till i finally got one in to take the pressure off me. We fished till 11:00am and had a nice livewell full of fish. We headed back to the camp so we could clean the fish and drink some beer. Met Beagleman, Buckwheat, Bigby, Jack B, Bob,BJ67 and Monte. What a good time we had drinking some brewskies and watching Brian in action smoking the brisket and chicken. Bob had his own area under one canopy where he BBQ the burgers, dogs and brats. I ate way to much food, it was everywehere. Rick (1rookie) and Dale took me out in there boat the next day and we had a good morning catching fish. Rick put on a show pulling some hugh slabs out of a cedar tree. Three times the fish snagged him in the tree and one pulled his rod out of his hands into the water but somehow he got them out of there. The rain held off everyday while we were fishing. We had a great time even though it rained at times because there where four canoppies to sit under and talk. Thanks again to Jared and Brian for being the ring leaders and getting everything organized.

A big thank from the Schott family for having us down, we had a really good time talking with everyone and now being able to put names with faces is nice.

Buckwheat you have a really nice setup, that pellet cooker is cool and did a excellent job on the chicken and burgers. Thank yoj again for bringing all that down and doing the cooking.

It was a great camp and a great time. The fishing was good but the food and fellowship was fantastic! Had the pleasure of meeting several newbies. I hope they continue to come to future camps. All were quality people. Of course it's always good to see the "regulars" as well. A big THANKS to all who helped make it happen. I'm looking forward to Spring Camp already.

There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.
