I got up I think Tuesday morning around 3 am and the police scanner was saying there was a Elk in the roadway on 13 highway just south of Clinton M.O. It was pretty funny listening to the dispatcher talking to the deputy about the Elk, until it got serious.

Dispatcher: Got a report of a Elk in the roadway just south of Clinton
Deputy: A what?
Dispatcher: A Elk and she spells it out E.L.K
Deputy: I'm responding to this (laughing)
Dispatcher: Now we are getting multiple calls of a Elk in the North bound lane of 13 highway.
Deputy: Is this thing walking around or dead on the highway?
Dispatcher: The calls are saying the Elk is alive and heading north on 13 highway.
Deputy: Call the MDC and see if they have released any Elk in Central M.O.
Dispatcher: MDC says they released Elk in south M.O but not aware of any making it this far north yet.
Deputy: 10-4 did you say this critter was heading north on 13 highway.
Dispatcher: 10-4 The MDC have gotten reports of sightings of a Elk in the area.
Deputy: Unable to locate, must of went back in the woods or made it to the Wal Mart in Clinton. (laughing again)
Dispatcher: Report of a Car vs. Elk south of Clinton,the car is in the ditch totaled, not sure about the Elk
Deputy: Start a trooper in route
Dispatcher: The driver is walking around but needs a ambulance to respond.
Deputy: Driver is OK the Elk was heading west after the impact unable to locate.

They say the Elk might of escaped from a ranch and it was hit between the bridges by the entrance to Sparrowfoot and to top it all off the people who hit it were from Colorado. lol
