I went out and checked my cam this weekend and had several deer come in mostly does and the bucks weren't real big. I got a shot of one doe on there that looked like she is sick or something not real sure. You could see just about every bone in her body it looked like.

Found one dead on my place and I called the biologist in my area and he said blue tongue cases were going around. It causes hemorrhaging of the mouth and tongue and makes it really painful for deer to eat or drink and this kills them. I live in Laclede county and he said that we had 21 confirmed cases counting mine. He said that our county was one of the least hit in our area. I would say thats what it is DABE. The viral vector or biting Midge thrives in a drought. I asked him if it was okay to eat the other deer in my area and he said it was fine, that it doesn't infect humans and it does not infect the meat of the deer. He said he did not condone eating any deer that I could tell was sick though. Which is just good common sense really. Hope this helps.

That little ten pointer is young and if he makes it next year or the year after I would say he will be a booner. Looks like a good stock to me man.
