    Default wheel bearing humming noise

I have a Toyota Camry that’s making a humming noise when you’re driving. Its starts out low and gets louder as you speed up then about 60 it mellow out.
I suspect it’s a wheel bearing. But it doesn’t change when you turn to the left or the right. SO I thinking it’s the back bearing. But I can seem to find any play in the wheels when I got it jack up.
Any help would be appreciated. The noise just drives you crazy banghead

It won't have play unless the bearning is REALLY bad,,,,,,,, don't just check for play in it, spin it, you will hopefully be able to hear it "growling" when you do and know which one it is. It may just be one of the front bearings instead of the rear.

Check you tires first. Put car on jack stands and you can run it to see if you hear the noise in the front end

just put some new tires on it. Needed some anyway but didn't do anything for the humming. I'll put it up on stands this after noon and see. THANKS

Barry, you have all the answers! LOL!
sounds like possibly a wheel bearing. but usually you can get the noise to change when you add load to that brearing. ? try this, speed up until you "drive out" of the noise, then try turning the wheel. see if there is any change.
in my exerience, CV joints click when they go out.
another thing to think about is engine mounts or tranny mounts. sometimes when a mount goes bad it no longer isolates engine noise from the car body. sometimes engine noise can enter the fraim rails via the metal to metal contact. can sound a lot like drive train noise. I had this happen to me on a wrecked car that I fixed and it drove me batty trying to figure out that noise. easy fix though. look for metal to metal contact, torn rubber or even dirt collected on oil around the mounts.(some mounts are oil charged and when they go bad, they tend to leak oil)
