    That was my thought also .. he was trying to land and somehow didn't see the V .. I had no idea it's been there that long .. that's crazy.

    guess I'm wrong then, I thought it was a western cattle rustling vulture, got caught and hung at noon.....

    The bird is still there , I rode by in the boat today . Must have gave up with the poor fishing in the area .

    Reminds me of the time my fishing partner Jimmy said to me, "See the bird on that stump. I'm gonna knock that sucker off with my new Fat Rap."

    I knew for a fact there was no way he was capable of casting that accurately so I laughed at him. He made the cast and of course would have missed by 6 feet but the unlucky bird flew and it and plug met in mid air. The poor bird fell into the lake and began screeching like crazy. Jimmy was hollering "He's got my new Fat Rap."

    I figured trying to lip him was not a very practical but I managed to trap the poor bird against the boat and unhook him. We've been laughing about that for over 20 years!

    BTW, could the bird in the tree be a Lesser Blue Heron?
