    Default Missouri River

    [ATTACH=CONFIG]92459

    It was windy, but it wasn't nearly as crowded as some of the lakes. It is always nice to fish different water and I enjoy fishing the Mighty Missouri. The MO River is an amazing fishery that doesn't get the credit it is due. Lots of fun, but the river can be tough on your boat if you're not careful. 10 Flathead, 1 Channel Cat (we left the worms and dipbait at home), one bent prop.

    Fished up north, near Indian Caves State Park. Used bluegill and creek chubs for bait. It did not matter where we fished, we caught fish every where: current side, front of dikes, rock banks, downed trees, slack water.

    We caught a few bigger, a few smaller, but they were right about this size.

    very nice! other than the bent prop, I am green with envy. they seem to have had lock jaw around here, I kinda of wonder if they aren't already on the nest..... were there any females and what did the eggs look like? congrats!

    2 had eggs and they were an off-white color, maybe with a little yellow. Sorry that I didn't pay more attention. They were healthy eggs sacs though.

    I always release all catfish over 10 lbs. I got a lecture one time from a person about "they are better able to protect their eggs." Anyways, it makes me feel good about releasing a possible 20 year old fish Even if I thought the guy was a little arrogant in his assessment after seeing how many fish, and the size of them, that he had in his boat. I wasn't able to make it on the river last year (flooding). Water temp was around 69-70, if you can trust the graph!

    Nice fish. Plan on going early tomorrow morning to avoid the heat and crowds. I know the Bourbeuse by the house is busy. Lots of people on and in it.

    yup the rivers been busy here, too. weren't a spot to park anywhere. today the water patrol was out in full force, 3 boats and 9 officers just here in town. I say good, more law will keep some of the ya-hoo's away. most of these clowns don't belong on the water anywhere let alone the big muddy.
    I will be out there tomorrow, gonna do some bowfishing and try to rid the river of asian carp!
