    Default hydraulic steering

the cables on my 82 champion have seen their better days, so thinking about upgrading to hydraulic steering looking for any pros - cons and if anyone has done this to their boat. is this something someone moderatly skilled can do? thanks in advance

Best upgrade I did to my last boat. I would have had to pull my motor to get new cables installed so routing the hoses was a breeze. I did have to cut a larger hole at the console for the larger hydraulic helm but everything went in easy. The only con is the price but once you get over that you will not be disappointed.

Will never have another boat with out Hydraulic steering. Had to replace single cable in first boat and also dual cable in my last boat. Not easy when having to take outboard off boat to replace them. This one is so smooth at any speed compared to cable steering.

I didnt install it but I love the hyd. steering. Even at high rates of speed the steering wheel never moves unless you move it.Thumbs Up

It is night and day difference in the steering. You will not be disappointed, but will have to get use to the easier steering though. lol
