    Default Venting Battery Compartment

Do you folks vent the battery compartment of your boat when charging the batteries?

My charger is on the lid of the battery compartment so I have to open it to get to the cord, yes.

My charger is mounted in the compartment. Always rest the lid on the plug, so it's open slightly. Never been an issue. Is there something we're missing?

I always open the lid to vent the compartment.
That way any heat or gases from charging can escape.
I then leave the compartment open to dry out and get rid of any gas smell from the fuel tank.

Always a good idea to vent on the wet cell batteries.
I run the dry cell sealed units so I do not vent the compartments.
I can say I like the dry cells as they don't corrode the connectors.
Always hated cleaning that junk off and end up getting it on my jeans and then have a hole the next time I washed the jeans.

I seal my compartment with duct tape while charging. I have good insurance and would like a new boat.
