Default my rainy day boat project

hey peeps! just thought I would share my latest do it yourself project that I have been working on the past couple of days. I have been building rodholders and will be building a new rodholder rack and side rails. here is a pic of what I have been using for several years now.Name: okIMAG0056.jpg

Size: 48.7 KB the rack works ok for catfishin and for trolling cranks but the wood, which was used before I used it, is starting to show signs of age. and the plastic holders are not the strongest in the world. so I started bending up some metal to see what I could make and here is what I have come up with.Name: ehIMAG0055.jpg

Size: 22.7 KB they have some features of a driftmaster, and some features of monsters, and some of my own thoughts. its a 3 positionholder, 0 degrees for rigging crappies and drifting for cats, about a 35degree position for trolling bandits, longlining jigs and for anchor fishing cats, and a vertical position for running on the water.the lower ring on the shaft is for the vertical position. the upper parts are made from 3/8 steel and the stem is made from a 1/2 inch grade 8 bolt.
and since I like to use as many poles as I own, I made a few extra! LMAO!Name: rhIMAG0054.jpg

Size: 53.9 KB 14 of em are for me and 10 of em are for my fishing buddies boat. obviously it's a work in progress, today I am going to grind down all the welds and paint them up by dipping them in Van Sickletractor paint, black. then in a few days when the paint is dry I will dip them in plasti-dip for the rubber like coating.
for the rod rack and rails I purchased 42ft od 1 1/2 x1inch box aluminum. I plan on building grab rails for the sides of the boat and cutting a half inch wide slot along the top of it, and inserting bolt plates inside the aluminum so my rodholders will slide the length of the side rails and I canput them where ever I might want them. for the back I plan on building a removeable rack, same materials, but it will be up and off the floor, and hopefully much stronger than my wooden back-woods rod rack that I currently use.

I guess in a few days I will post more pics of the progress and ina week or so I should have the end result for ya all to see.

and yes I have too much time on my hands right now!

thanks everyone for the remarks... I appreciate it! I didn't get to o work on em yesterday evening like planned, had a b day party last night and I wasn't in much shape to go run power tools, if ya get my drift. Lol! hopefully today after I get my honey-do's done I can go get a coat of paint on em. seems like every time I start a project like this it takes 3 times as long as I thought it would, but all I can do is keep on keeping on! so I will have those finished pics for ya'all sooner or later, again, thanks for the replies.
btw, LSL angler, I have some nice, aged, sun dried plastic rodholders ya can have, just set your drag real light and it will be fine!

The 3 way design seems very clever and outside the box. Sounds like they will work great.
