Dying to get some paddle time in on the new yak I set out for strip pits outside Rich Hill, MO.
Iced in, got on one, paddled about half way down, ice again.
Loaded and headed east, Clinton, W hwy, wind howling, looked at GPS, noticed a gravel road on opposite bank, poke gps, find route.
Get over there via U hwy, stop by Bucksaw, dead, return to route to cty rd 671... nice dead in at lake. Launch and head up river just shy of power line, come back down, paddling real hard, let it coast around a corner... if there were 20 there were 50 turkey right on the bank and spread up in the brush. Then reached for the camera I remember I brought... they spook, no pic.
Dipped a couple stobs, caught two shorts, no electronics on this yak yet, no tie offs to stay put... mostly just wanting to get the arms in shape.
Coming around on Z right at 13 there is a Armadillo crossing the road...

Sounds like a fun trip. Do you have any pics of the new ride? Would like to see how it is laid out. I would have to have a Hi-Tek rod holder made for mine to hold two rods. Seen a few yaks at sports show. I think they were all Hobbies and did not see any prices. Not for sure but I think one had a electric motor on it.
There were two yak outfitters. Hobies were up front, KCPaddler, where I got mine, was in the back near the trout pond. More variety. For reference, that big Hobie with the front hatch and lawn chair type seat... $2500.
Here's mine, $600, 14' long, that is a 12' crappie rod for reference. To be mounted, a fish finder with a thru hull transducer, two scott rod holders for trolling, those you see behind the seat on the side hold the rods as well. I will also install an anchor trolley, anchor/tie off line binding points, etc. Then she'll be ready.
I put a couple of miles on her today, loaded and unloaded it three times. It holds tons of cargo and gear.

Here's the other kayak. You can see the Scotty holders and the ff that is just hidden behind the right holder.

Thanks for the pics. That is a very nice one for $600. Will be sweet setup when you get the extras installed. Congrats on a nkce fishig machine. I forgot about the others up there. That big one was nice. It I paid about that for my first Champion with a 90 HP Johnson on the back, two fish finders and a 24 volt trolling motor. Sure could not see paying that for one I had to paddle.
Nice yak, very stable, 10' long and serves it's purpose. Hauled hundreds of fish into that rig.

This is probably a 25-30# grass carp caught on night crawler.

First pic in the little river is cool. Nice rapids/fall. Would be fun to ride over. I may have to start looking a little harder at them.
