smoke pole got a shot

Kinda long story here,,,, got the crappie dot com stickers ready for Miss Sharon to mail. so what the heck load the dog and have a rabbit race. went to the back side next to the corn and brush,,, cast the hounds and let er go boys.... the race was on, the dogs made 4 big circles, I was gonna shoot he bunny for christmas dinner, so I was on high alert,,, rabbit stayed in the thick brush could not get a shot... so I drove over by the corn and sat on the hill waiting for the rabbit to cross, nope he did not, so I drove to the bottom right where the dogs had crossed 4 times and I had drove through twice.... NOW hear it comes,,, with in 25 ft of the truck a big ole doe jumps up, she had stayed there for at least an hour. no way she came in on me. could see 360dg. and no deer.... anyway I had the smoke pole with me and stepped out of the truck and whisled loud and she turned arround and stopped dead still... well not dead still cause after the smoke cleared, the heart slowed down, the deer was gone. poof outa sight.... well I drove up to where she was standing and no blood... zip/ pretty cool though my first shot at a verry patient deer,,,, I could not believe she stayed there for over an hour and waited till I drove right up to her.... anyway, it got close to dinner time so I called the dogs and started up the lane and jumped a bunny and the dogs seen it and the race was back on,,,, and still is an hour later..... fishing tomorrow

The great thing about being outdoors......is just that. Being outdoors. Maybe you didn't bring miss Sharon dinner, but it did you (and the dogs) good to get out there!

And don't forget what the Duke told someone about shooting: "windage and elevation"
