Good, timely thread, Red. I've been wondering the same. It would be great if it was all Ford says it is.

From all Ive read about them, they are getting between 13-15 mpg pulling boats. Around 20 mpg out on the highway

Here is some info for you to consider. The horsepower for the eco-boost is 365 at 5000 rpm the 5.0 is 360 at 5500 rpm. HOWEVER directly from the owners manual for the eco-boost is the following;"Your vehicle is designed to run on regular fuel with an octane rating of 87 or higher. For best overall performance, premium fuel with an octane rating of 91 or higher is recommended. The performance gained by using premium fuel will be most noticeable in hot weather or in severe duty applications such as towing a trailer". I own a 2010 F-150 with a 5.4. I average 15.0 while towing my boat (19 ft Lowe with a 90 Merc) and 19+ not towing on the hiway. Had I waited a year and bought a 2011, I would have bought the 5.0. Engine has been around forever, VERY proven, AND you don't have to spend the extra $$$$$ on premium fuel. It is, however, your money. In addition, the 5.0 towing capacity is 10,000 and the eco-boost is 11,000.

I read where the low end power of the eco boost is really impressive, but did not realize the eco boost recommended premium gas (ouch!). I had a y2k F150 w/ a 5.4 4x4, thing would snap your neck at a red light if you hit the gas too hard from a dead stop. towed like a dream, would get 14-16 towing a 10' enclosed trailer w/ a 800lb motocycle on the interstate and did not really know my tracker was hooked up, had to look in the mirrors to make sure. I miss that truck.banghead
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.
