Husband put it on the boat saturday and we tried it out yesterday on the Missouri. We like it. Didn't ride around much. Did more fishing. It was a little chilly to ride around trying out the new toy. If you use a Down Imaging unit do you like the dark, light or inverse setting for the DI. We tried all 3 but need more time to figure out what we like the best. Also do you guys have trouble with glare in your fish finders and if so what can help to reduce the glare. Oh. I caught 11 tiny catfish and 2 shovelnose sturgeon and husband caught 4 shovelnose sturgeon. The water temp. was 36. Starting to get cold water in the river.
I've got one on the way!!! Can't wait for it to get here and get it on the boat! I would like to be able to try it out before I'm laid up for a couple months!!!
Well I'm jealous! I've got to figure out a way to get one of the newer finders....
Glad you and the hubby got yours tho, and glad you got out to try it....you should get out onto one of the lakes so you can see some real structure......I imagine the river doesn't have a lot of trees or brush to take pix of.
This thread is precious. The only toys my wife gets excited about... oh, wait... wrong forum.
that is awsome!! hope ya like it, I love my bird.
I've got the 597 HD DI and I like to run the split screen with the sonar colored and the HD DI dark background and light structure/fish. As far as glare I have a little problem with mine when I get water spots on it. Usually a good cleaning helps as far as reducing the glare but sometimes I have to change the angle on it to see clearly.
It is great that the two of you enjoy fishing together. My wife likes to go but it has to be sunny and seventy plus and the fish have to be ON or she doesn't want to go.
Give someone a fish and you feed them for a day; teach someone to fish and you feed them for life.
Matthew 5:19 "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men."
