i don't trap but i've never heard of muskrats bringing that much money. work on'em. what are the prices for other furs? a lot of people quit because of low fur prices. i always wished i had learned to trap. took fur fish and game mag for years and have 4 hard bound a.r. harding books from way back in the 40's. they are collectible now. good luck on your trapline.

Depends on workload from year to year, but I have trapped alot in years past. Got to trap semi-pro one winter was running 150-200 traps a day for over 45 days alot of work but had a good fur check at end of year. trapperman.com is a pretty good source for information the CDC of the trapping world.

Done alot more canine and cat trapping than water.

    Good Luck!

One of my fishing friends that is pushing 60 gave me about 30 traps today. A a good mixture of rat, mink, cook and beaver traps. I'm off for the next five days and my 8 year old and I are going to try to make life hard on fur bearing animals and ducks. I'll give a report in a day or two. We are going crappie fishing in the am, then lunch and set some traps, then quail hunt the last couple hours of the day. Looking forward to new adventures with the young man. My 4 year old also will go a little with us along the creek. He is a decent shot with a bb gun and want to catch a possum. Shouldnt be hard to do that. HA.

Be careful those snaggle toothed possums are real man eaters!

USed to trap a lot, but now just run a short line of 20-25 bucket sets for coon. They are very productive.

I am not a trapper, don't know any trappers and know nothing about trapping .. that being said, here are a couple of questions alot of you will laugh at, but I'm serious .. who buys the furs and do you have to dress the animal or does the fur buyer do that?
