    Default Long pole education/opinion

I fished Truman at bucksaw both for the first time this fall. Noticed I and others with me were about the only ones without long poles. Going to add them to my collection of needed items any thoughts on which ones to stay away from or recommend. Thanks

I have a Bucks best ultralite with the bottom reel seat in the 12ft. I like it very sensitive.

I have used many brands in 10-11ft. I have never spent more then 55.00. I don't think you'll find a brand that is bad, you'll find little things that might annoy you, or little things that you really like. But I couldn't say that there's a brand that's junk.

I've used pro angler,BnM (several models), ozark, wally marshall, etc. Just go to the store, and if possible flick the rod up and down and get the feel for them. Backbone, what kind of eyes, ceramic or steel, cork or foam handle are some of the biggest differences you'll find.

I like sam heaton, but like Duncanc said, try several, I got arthuritis in the hands and wrist and the lighter rods work better for me. outlaw makes a good long pole, so check arround I would hate to pick one over another, cause there mostly all good.

This subject has been discussed adnauseam on this board. Search is your friend for some good info.
Sam Heaton Super Sensitive is all I will be using until I find one better.

I like Ozark Rods but what do I know! Ripnlips I was just like you a few years ago! Went to Truman fished with some of this bunch and I found out that I was the only one with a short pole! I PERSONALLY THOUGHT THAT EVERYONE WAS TOTALLY NUTS FOR FISHING WITH A POLE AS LONG AS AN OLD CANE POLE THAT GAVE UP USING AT AGE 5! But granted I am older than dirt but I am not stupid enough not to learn a new trick once in a while! I went out and got a 10 foot pole and bang old dw starting catching fish! Now I might forget the beer, the soda, the food, the wife, but I won't forget my long pole for a fishing trip!
