Default Looking for a power head need assistance

I blew up my mercury 250 xs racing engine on my Triton, anybody know where I can get one. I need to fing a good mechanic. Pros Choice wants 9000.00 I think that is a little high. Should i get the cylnder fixed or put the whole power head on.

That sounds a little high to me but with it being a big and newer motor who knows. I would give Anglers Port a call and maybe Kaz will see the thread and chime in. He should know of a good place to have it done. I know he has suggested Anglers Port for me in the past with minor issues.

Ouch! Personal opinion I wouldn't consider sleeving or repairing the cylinder doesn't seem to work out long term on a bigger V6. What year is it and I can do some looking around? That engine is from Merc's racing division and not a general production motor thus everything about it will be a bit more pricey.

You might call this guy – Chris 561-248-2903 great marine mechanic, KC area, fair prices and not a dealer so much more reasonable. Even if this is something he can’t tackle he could provide excellent advice. You can tell him Bill Keefer had you call. Good luck!!!

You might want to try bass boat central, there is a forum on motors and repairs there, lots of good info

Looks kind of high to me!

$3,099.00 plus a $600.00 core charge plus shipping for a remanufactured one.

Is this the power head for the pro xs though? 250 opti and 250 XS may be different.

May not be but that is why I posted the link maybe he can take a look and give them a call. And I would be contacting my boat insurance agent also if I was him. I know my lower unit is covered with my State Farm agent don't know about the rest of it.
