Hey I know a bunch of us are also hunters in Missouri.
Just reading my September 2010 Missouri Conservationist Magazine. Noticed that there was some changes in Deer Season for this fall. "Hunters can use atlatis to hunt deer during all portions of the firearms deer season except the muzzleloader portion."
Now my question was just what in the heck is atlatis? So my fellow rednecks I decided to look it up, couldn't find anything. Finally I went to the Missouri Department of Conservation website. This is what I have found out.
⦁ atlatl, which is defined as a rod or narrow board-like device
used to launch, through a throwing motion of the arm, a
dart 5 to 8 feet in length.
Now I really want to go out in the woods with a dart 5 to 8 feet in length with everyone else having a firearm. Granted its been a few years since I hunted deer. But the best I remember it's not easy to get a deer to stand still long enough for me to get a good shot off. And sometimes it takes more than a few shots from my 30-06.:D:D Now just what kind of nut case would want to go out and throw a 5 to 8 foot dart at a deer?If I am going to go kill something to eat I sure don't want the animal to suffer anymore than possible. Makes you kind of wonder what kind of nut cases we have in Jefferson City running the show.
