Sorry to hear of your misfortune, Ralph. Glad to hear it wasn't any worse than it was. I punched holes in the bottom of both of the glass boats I owned. That's why I'm fishing out of a metal boat now.
"Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty ia a well-armed lamb contesting the vote." - Benjamin Franklin.
Bob - you can bet the next boat'll be metal. I like to fish the rivers at home, and I've only gotten up the nerve to take the bass boat out there a couple of times. If/when we get a metal boat It'll be easier to get out there more.
Bugman - We ended up taking the last of your suggestions, and are staying at Bear Bottom out just past Hurricane Deck bridge. Thanks for the suggestion... Nice owners, clean rooms, and its affordable. Reminds me of all the mom & pop places that used to dot the lake when I was a kid, only those have all been replaced with condos. Its also familiar water for me, as my Great Aunt used to live one cove down from the bridge. Started out this morning puttering around the cove by Bear Bottom, and not getting a nibble. There are shad-balls EVERYwhere. Picked up some minnows and went out to a bluff with some sun hitting it, and lit 'em up for a few hours, until the fish slowed way down about 11. Time for lunch and let the kids swim anyway.
Christine caught a 22" Walleye on a #2 aberdeen with a little splitshot and a good sized minnow. Just finished cleaning him and the crappie, and we're going to have a good fish fry for dinner this evening. Between now and then, going to let the kids ride Super Mable and come back to ride the waterslides for a bit while Chris and I enjoy an adult beverage. I'll hit the water for the last few hours of daylight to see if I can pick up the last of a limit and maybe another Walleye or two. Couldn't ask for a more beautiful day out.
Teach your kids to hunt and fish and you won't have to hunt for your kids !!
Awesome day for sure Ralph and the walleye will make for a great supper,i thought the kids might like the water slide heck i still want to try it myself.

Finished up the trip in style. Went out Mon eve and caught some more on the same spot(s). Tuesday am we all hopped in the boat and tried a few more places down around Tan-tar-a, with limited success. So we headed back to (you guessed it) the same spot we'd been hitting along that rocky shore near Hurricane Deck, and all four of us pulled in fish steadily for a couple of hours until it was lunchtime and time to pack up.
All said, it was a good trip. Had a great pan-fried walleye and crappie meal one night and came back with some freezer-bags full for the next fry. Lots of good pics and several non-fishing things to do (waterslides, tubing, ha-ha-tonka, etc) and it was a nice way to wrap up summer vacation for the kids.
Put 'em on the bus at 7:45 this morning, so its BACK TO SCHOOL now. :p
