PEOPLE well went by the persimmon tree last night. and started laughing, long time ago the guy up the road from us was talking about catfish bait and how to catch them big ole cats on the spring river over by baptist hill, so I scooted up a bit, he says got to gather up all the persimmons you can get raked up and put them in a barrell, let them sit for two three days and when they get good and ripe you mix corn flakes and root beer in a small bowl and when you get a good paste fix that into little balls of bait. we did not have a persimmon tree but he had two of them, man I sure would like to have me some of them persimmons, well said he, let me get you a rake young man,

I raked for hours, go ahead and just pile up them branches and leaves son, while your at it, ok. well after two days and many piles of persimmons I was ready to load the barrels in the wagon and head home, man I will never forget the ribbin I got from all the other kids, oh well sure was fun making the dough balls and sittin on the bank fishing. you guessed it caught a ton of catfish, big ones, but you would have guessed wrong,

not a bite. every time I walked to school I thought how nice that man was to teach me how to rake a simmon patch. and his wife never complained about him trackin in squished persimmons.

just remembering.
