    Default Yellowstone Lake

Taking the family to Yellowstone the last week of August and was wondering if anyone has ever fished Yellowstone Lake. Thought about renting a boat for a day but never been up there, don't ever know what to fish for.

Was up there in middle of June. All the lakes p there are cold water lakes . Park ranger told me that trout was the only thing in the lake. No need to fish below 20 fow. deepest part of the lake he said was 750 ft deep. Clear as well water. Have fun & good luck.

Never fished the lake but did catch some trout on the Madison and Lamar rivers (VERY FEW trout by the way! they was smarter than I was!). Only been up there one time, back in the mid-90's. Unbelievable country up there. Good luck and have fun.
We do not want the gift of a fish; neither do we expect a lesson on fishing; what we direly need is a chance to fish

Went there several years ago and fished the streams in the park but not the lake. Caught a few small trout fly fishing and did not have the slightest clue what I was doing – borrowed all the equipment.

Make sure you check because inside the park I think you only need a park fishing permit and not a State permit. Good Luck!

Thanks for the input guys, I'm not much of a trout fisherman I was hoping there was a large population of Walleye in the lake. I guess I will just have to go looking for a Grizzly Bear for some excitement.

YOU WON'T HAVE TO HUNT GRIZZLY BEARS THEY ARE EVERY WHERE. WE GOT WITH IN 20 YDS OF ONE 3 YRS AGO. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS LOOK AROUND AND SEE OF YOU CAN OUT RUN THE OTHERS. IF NOT JUST KEEP ON DRIVING.......:D

HAVE A GOOD TRIP. TAKE THE TIME TO SEE MOUNT RUSHMORE.

We are staying a couple days in Rapid City S.D and going to Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse Monument and of course Deadwood. We might stop by Custers Battlefield on the way to Yellowstone. I would love to see a Grizzly up close, but not that close. lol
