stjoenews.net | Taking the tribe on vacation? Avoid Illinois
Seems like Il. is cash strapped(aren't we all) and is now charging for coming to the scene of an accident or emergency, but only for out of towners since they don't pay taxes.Holey Moley, this world is getting crazy!![]()

sounds fair to me, not much different from motel/hotel tax. or ramp tax, or parking permit. sounds like a users fee to me.
Sounds like, yet once again, an over-zealous city, state or federal government, placing a CONSUMPTION TAX on something and calling it a "fee" that is collectable in a court of law.
Folks, if we keep turning our heads on these isues and allowing the government, any government, to continually intrude on our lives, we might as well just have employers send your pay check to "The Man" and then have the government send us back what THEY think we need.
This has absolutely nothing to do with Rep./Dem.; conservative/liberal - it has everything to do with our freedoms that they keep pealing away at every opportunity --- and we just sit back an accept it like the dutiful little serfs they think we are.
I'm kinda with you on this one beagle, but, lets just say someone from IL is cruising through MO and gets in an accident, should they just arrive at the scene, see the IL plates on the mangled car and say "It sucks to be you", I'm sure not. So we cover them, they should cover us, or we should charge them too.
It's MO tax or whatever resources pay for them here, but we gotta shell it out of our own pocket if we are there? Seems like it should be a mutual agreement that well pick your busted up butt off of our road, and they could do the same.
