I think the owners of Stillwater Resort on Pomme de Terre were thinking about selling it a couple years ago. Don't know if it happened or if they are still interested in selling it. Nice resort, but the lake sucked the year I was there- too high of water for good crappie fishing. Everyone in the whole resort cancelled except my group. Nice folks running it though.
Try and google it. This is the first one that I came up with. It has about 6 or so resorts for sale and there were links on google for much more. Good luck and I hope that it works out for you all.
Missouri Resorts For Sale
Opinions are like A-holes, everybody has one and some stink worse than others!
Thanks guys, I have done a google search and working with an agent and I have about 12-18 resorts right now that I in contact with. I am mainly just woundering if you know of any that has a "for sale by owner" sign out front, or maybe heard the resort owner talking about selling over a cup of coffee. Thanks TwainGang I will do a follwo up on that.
Do some SERIOUS checking on any you find you are interested in. Have a lawyer and accountant look over the books. There is always a reason those places are for sale, 99.9% are not for sale because the owners want to retire.
Rarely will you see the ones that make money for sale.
I'm just sayin'....................
I'll smoke just about anything (in my smoker)
The fishing is always great. The catching varies.
yeah I have two lawyers in the famil one oes real estate law so I will need to find an accountant, once I find one that I want to buy it will be a long process, not looking to jump in head first before doing all of my home work on it.
I admire successful resort and marina owners, they earn what they get. Not trying to discourage just saying,,,,the world is full of people that saw owning a resort close to the lake as their pre-retirement plan. Get close to the lake, enjoy the water, fish, boat, have lots of spare time,,,bunk. They found themselves not generating enough revenue to hire adequate staff and cleaning rooms, scrubbing toilets, and cleaning up after patrons that think they purchased the right to be inconsiderate with their room rent. Personally know of several sad stories around the Table Rock and Bull Shoals area. One thing I'd suggest you check. How long have the current owners had it and how many different owners has it had over the years? Some resorts on Table Rock turned an average of every three years.
Bigminnow, I am not in any way trying to discourage you from anything, but I work on a public lake and know the resort and marina owners very well, one thing you should never equate together is retirement and running a resort or marina, it is a full time plus job. Income is never stable and always at the mercy of mother nature and the economy. But if you buy one close by I'll come by and see you.
