    Default Boat Title Info

Missouri boaters are required to have a title for all vessels and/or outboard motors unless the vessel is powered by oar alone or is a sail boat less than 12 feet in length powered by sail alone, according to the Missouri Water Patrol.

Any person who tries to register their boat or motor with the Department of Revenue will find that without a proper title many times they are required to have a serial number verification performed by the Missouri State Water Patrol.

During this inspection a Water Patrol officer will check for a proper serial number and verify the vessel or motor is not stolen.

The officer will complete a form 798 that will be submitted to the Department of Revenue along with the application paperwork.

In order to make it easier for the public to have a serial number verification performed, the Missouri State Water Patrol has established the below listed station locations at which the public can bring a boat or motor by at the designated times.

For a complete list of Department of Revenue requirements for registering a vessel/outboard motor please visit their web site at:

bought my boat in oklahoma, they dont license trailers so there wasnt a title for it, you dont need to take it to water patrol to have the VIN verification done any law enforcement officer can do it, i was gonna do my own but the gal at the lic office said i probly shouldnt so i called a friend at the sheriffs dept and he came over and did it for me, keep in mind some agencies will charge a fee to do this.

I just got my boat renewall in the mail $58.50 for 3 years. I can get a license plate for my truck cheaper than that. They must think it's a cruise ship for that high of a fee.....

    That's cheap, compared to Florida.
The wife & I moved here last summer from Florida. And My boat, a '99 Champion 187 Elite with a '99 150 Optimax on it was 76.50 per year.
The trailer registration was another 34.50 per year.
From what I hear from friends back there, those prices are going up this year.

Barn dog you must just license your pickup for just 6,000 pounds. I have to put 24,000 pound tags on my pickup and I can't run farm tags due to the distance I travel. The tags cost me about $110.00 per year just on the pickup. But then again I pull some heavy loads. Even with the larger tags I can't scale my pickup and a full load of cows on the stock trailer or a tractor on the flat bed trailer. One of these days the DOT boys are going to catch me over weight and I am going to be sick. Maybe I can get JohnnyLaw to bring me something to eat while I am in jail.

Talk about fun how about paying for tags for RV trailer, boat, ATV trailer, covered trailer and a flat bed gooseneck trailer. Thank god dad pays for the gooseneck stock trailer tags.

And then when I done at the license office it's over to my State Farm Agent and he gets another chunk of money. Which allows him to live in a lot nicer home than I do.
