    Default Laptop wireless internet??????

Ok old DW's hitting the road again on Monday. So sorry guys I missed you while I was down south selling Christmas Trees and Fireworks during Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years!

All right got a new laptop. I have a Verizon Cell phone.

Loved Verizon down south could hear Beagleman and OSS just fine on the phone!

Ok now what, how, when and where.

    What company do you use?

I have a Sprint Card for my laptop. It works very well for me (not near as fast as the DSL at home). However, I understand Sprint is pretty much on major throughfares and not so good in some rural areas.

I don't get very far off of the beaten path very often, so it is not a problem for me...good luck.

I think Beagle has something maybe from Verizon. Guess I am going to have to call him. BBBBBBBBEEEEEEEAAAAAGGGGGLLLLLLLEEEEE this dumb dumb needs some help!

I know some of the guys at Spring Camp last year at Bucksaw were getting it done down there on laptops. Because I was watching them post from home while they were down there. And I have seen people down there not have cell service.

I have Verizon on both my phone and laptop and seems to work pretty good. Not quite as fast as the desktop at home but keeps me in touch with no problem so far.

I've got a sprint broadband card for my laptop... had it for almost two years - a Compass 597 model made by QualComm 3G (I think they just changed the design to something newer).
I get service fairly far and wide, as I spend a lot of my weekends hunting and fishing all over the place. It even works at Bucksaw.

Here are a few links to help you out. My wife has sprint and it works well. From the bit I read, I'd probably lean toward Sprint.

if your phone has internet, it may be possible to use your phone as a modem depending on the model. i did that for a while and it worked OK, but not as fast as the dedicated broadband cards. thing is, if you are paying for internet on your phone, why pay for separate internet on another device. i think they charged an extra 15 per month to add that feature.

Thanks for the replies. This is a mess trying to get something figured out. Especially if you don't want to sign away the farm in trying to get service. I can't see paying for a high dollar plan when I have DSL at home.

    Default Got it figured out.

Went over to Verizon today. I have been paying $100.00 per month unlimited phone and text. The same service they advertising on TV for $70.00. They told me I would have to get a new phone that would work with their network. Old Alltel customer. So I got me a phone needed one anyway. And now I have a deal where that I pay $40.00 per month only when I am out of town for 5 GB of internet service per month. And all I have to do is connect my cell phone to my laptop and I am online. They told me it was not as fast as a card in my laptop but it is $20.00 per month cheaper than the card for the same 5 GB of service. Plus I don't have to sign no 2 year contract for the broadband service. If I am laid off not working I can cancel then when I am called back I can turn it back on. I couldn't see having full time braodband on this laptop when we have SBC DSL wireless service here at the house. PW58 has a laptop and we both need it here at the house anyway.

should be good to go. one thing is that when your phone is being used as the modem, making and receiving calls might not work at the same time as the internet. one of those connections is bound to suffer, either phone or data.

if you don't need super fast data, you did good buddy! let us know how it works for ya?
