Proper way to anchor your boat - Boating How Tos - Boatsville

I use two twenty pound river anchors on my 18 and a half ft. boat. The one on the rear is manually operated with a Anchor mate and the one on the front is on a electric operated anchor winch by MinnKota.. Even though I fish lakes and not rivers....the river anchors hold better.

I have a 16' jon boat with a round anchor. Maybe I'm not doing it right but I had difficulties getting it to hold until I welded some spikes onto it. So I wouldn't go with a round anchor.

Hey rugs!
That anchor looks like several I have owned. small ones for canoes and large ones for boat. the only time they don't work is when you need to dig into hard sand in current. They will slide and roll on that stuff. the price is right though for the "Cement" anchor. Must be an "Up Nort Ting" YA! you Betcha!

Brake Rotors
Has anybody used old brake rotors. Just weld a smooth rod or a bolt with a smooth area on or tie the rope thru the hole the stud goes. The rotor sits flat on the bottom and holds very good. You can get used ones free at tire stores or auto repair shops size depends on the auto they come off of. Spray a little paint on them they work great. If you lose one, what have lost another trip to the repair shop or when you get your oil changed pick up another one they will be glad to get rid of them. Cub48
