    Default Speaking of hunting dogs

Finally got the girls out on an actual hunting foray yesterday morning. Those two sweethearts ran two nice, fat bunnies to within 10 yards of me. The trusty .410 didn't let me or them down. Only hunted for about an hour as it started misting rain. The girls were rewarded with snacks in the field and bunnie hearts when we got home. MMMMMMM, fried rabbit sounds so good!
Thanks, Michael. These are two wonderful hounds.

Dang that sounds like fun Bob. Used to love chasing the bunnys with my 3 beagle dogs way back in the day. I sold them when I started college because I was also working full time and didn't have time to run them. Sure miss those days.

It was a blast or should I say "two blasts"? Wish I could have stayed out longer with them. Gonna do it again this weekend.

They were fine with the gun, Michael. I had already taken them down to the pistol range I set up a couple of times. Only thing I wish I could change is getting them to come with me when I am done. I have to take a couple of leashes with me and leash them up when the last bunny is harvested. They don't like having to leave the timber. I'm guessing that's a good thing tho.

They look like great dogs! I love beagles; I had one when I was growing up and my brother had one in later years. BTW, there was a picture of a cute beagle puppy on the latest issue of Auburn Veterinarian- the alumni mag I get from the vet school.

A buddy I work with came over this morning and I let them out to run a little. We were standing out in the driveway about 5 mins later when the baying started in the back of the house. I told my buddy to watch down the driveway and about 30 seconds later, here came the bunny. It ran between us and the shed and into the timber behind the shed. About 15 seconds later, here came the dogs! I love watching them and listening to them on the chase. There is a distinct difference in their baying. I can tell one dog from the other. It also changes when they actually see their prey. I may just have to take them out tomorrow for a bit. I think I love it as much as they do.
