    Default Missouri Lake Resort Suggestions

My mom wants the whole family, Mom, Dad, Me, Wife, Son (1 year old), Sister, Her Husband, and 3 kids age 12, 7, 4. To go on a vacation next summer to a nice resort in MO.

We thought about Bennet springs, but are looking at other ideas too. We are thinking somewhere close to a body of water, Stockton, Pomme, Truman, mark twain or other lake. (probably not LOZ we go there pretty regular.)

She is wanting a resort with a pool, restruant, and maybe a beach close by. Fishing is a plus but not necessary, the kids will burn out quick on fishing No Camping, we already do a couple of those trips during the summer.

    Anyone got any suggestions

Bennet Springs is cool if your into Trout Fishing. I like to catch them but that is about it. I am not into eating them. Other than that I would think that the kids would get pretty board. There is a restraunt down there but it is pretty simple.

With you guys being used to LOZ, I don't know if you would enjoy Pomme de Terre. It is a really quiet lake, not much action around the lake. The night life is really dead, maybe 6 bars in the whole county, oh there is a bowling alley at Nemo. And you will have to drive to any restraunt there isn't any resorts that have restraunts attached. During race season there is one of the best race tracks in the Midwest at Wheatland, MO, Lucas Oil Speedway. As far as the resorts I would only recommend 2 of them. Barry Smith runs a good one called Hickory Grove Resort, it is older but it is clean, Welcome To Hickory Grove Resort The other one would be Stillwater Resort, Randy Cain has a newer type resort and it is also clean. Here is the website for them, Stillwater Resort You can also check out the local Chamber of Commerce website: Pomme de Terre Lake Area Chamber of Commerce

I am not downing Pomme de Terre, I used to live up on the lake, my folks still have 2 farms in the county. You have to like quiet. During the week with a 16 foot boat and a 9.9 motor you can go anywhere on the lake. There is only one Grocery Store in the whole county, there is several Quick Stops and it is at least 30 miles to a Wal-Mart.

Big Cedar at Table Rock is always high on the list.
