Welcome from Smithville! I know a few guys who fish out of canoes and there's a guy on the Mo board who fishes Truman in a Kayak. Not sure where the guys put in and fish at Smithville, but will keep my ears open to find out.

Hey everyone! New to the site and Missouri! Moved here in August from northern Michigan for a job at Liberty Hospital. All the kids are grown and married and time for grandpa and grandma to do something for themselves. We both love to fish and my wife just loves crappie! Got that covered I guess. We'll be looking for a new boat soon sometime here, might be sooner than later with this weather! I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and getting a line wet. I haven't done any fishing since last July. We used to do a lot of salmon, lake trout, brown trout, walleye, sm mouth bass, panfish and CRAPPIE fishing along with ice fishing up there but the crappies ain't near the size as here. We've driven around Smithville a few times and want to ride to Truman soon. If you want you can call me Chris.
Welcome Chris. You'll find tons of info here and if we don't know the answer to your questions, we're pretty good at making stuff up. If you want to meet some of the folks North of the river (Northland), we are getting together tomorrow night. Be a good opportunity to meet some of the locals. You'll find that thread on the fishing board.

Hope you get to hit Truman. Blk/Chartruse is always a good color. In cleaner water I like wht/Chartruse. Fishing is a little slow right now so don't let that give you a bad taste for Truman. It is a great lake and produces some numbers and quality fish most of the time.
Welcome Charley....what part of the state are you from?
I live across the lake from the cape fair marina on table rock. However I’m closer to Reeds springs then the Cape. I catch a lot of nice fish but I have a lot of one here and two there kind of days. I like to get in to them like some of the reports I’ve been reading up there. I've never caught them on jigs here I always used live bait. That minnow bucket water really cold this time of year.
I move here from Kaw Lake near Ponca City Ok. The limit there was 35 and there were many days I would limit out.
The rock has been a big disappointment. Now if you like Bass OMG this is the place. But they need to be 15 inch i think and there’s a lot of them 14 ¾
I like fishing to eat and Crappie is the best.
So I want to come up there check it out a couple days, Going to rent a storage to leave my boat.
Wife and I are already talking about moving. She could care less about getting in a boat but she loves to fish from bank. Below the dam was a lot of places she comment on.
Hey Jigging 15 That’s one color I got is black, white, purple, red, yellow/chartruse. Bobby Garland
