    Default Shhhh A Smithville Report

Not much of one but went out yesterday morning, lake seemed up 2 or 3 foot but water wasn't to muddy. There was some small debris floating around. Caught fish everyplace I went but the first two spots up the river so headed south. The main problem was size. Caught tons of 8.5's and some smaller. Did find one spot with decent fish so after throwing back two nice ones decided I might keep some. Problem was I would lose more than I could catch. They were only in 3 to 5 foot of water and using a 13 foot rod with that little line out made it tough. Lots of fish learned or attempted to fly yesterday.

I learned that a Frabill EZ Crappie Check'R SINKS! I was measuring a 9 incher, the fish flopped out, I went to catch it, it landed on the floor of my boat and the Frabill took a swim. They like to dive and not come up for air!

As I was letting fish go, decided not worth cleaning 5 decent fish I remembered to take a photo of my neat idea, using curtain rod hooks for crappie counters. I purchased two different colors and put 14 on 1 for 15 total so when gone I know limit is done and two colors keep fish identified. Also makes it easy for photos.

Gave my buddy Joedog a set and explained my idea but he actually used his to hang a couple of shoer curtains, guess it was a better use for his and we all know how Joe loves showers.

Glad you had a good day! Agreed, the Frabill checker is trash. Buddy got me a grip n check from the creator (his buddy) and I pitched it lol. The Grip N Check is so much easier to use.

You just need a curtain rod and some fish for a good stringer pic, Joe could hang his in trees or a shower house pic. So many options
