my buddy Coop wanted to get in on the ketchn at LSL so we waited till it warmed up and hit the bank around 1. course being a minnow boy, had to stop and get dozen minnows which looked more like 3. I lent him a pole as his stuff was up at his place at Mark twain lake. I was there first while he was rigging and of course caught couple with first couple dips. then he joined in.
just used the jig I had on that pole and caught several like that. shorts of course. this time it took 33 before caught one worth keeping. Doug tossed his minnow and bobber out deeper and did ketch a 11 inch female instead of the many lil males in their breeding colors.
Ended up with 6 for him to clean and have a good meal with. Caught scads as usual which is always a load of fun. Glad he could join me.

I like it when the action is heavy as well. Thank you for taking us along.

first day it took 24 bugeyes before a keeper, ended with 8 for my neighbor.
second one took 33 till keeper and he ended up with 6.
Takes me back to my days at january-wabash park in Ferguson when I would go to bank with just some line and a small hook and worms from garden and ketch lil green sunfish and bluegills under the RR ties along shore.
I'm still that 10 yo kid at heart.
BTW my buddy finally realized how silly it was using minnows and switched to some of my small jigs and he actually caught more that way. I'll convert these guys yet as I consistantly outfish them with jigs while they waste time going to buy minnows.
Hey I'm no purist so if someone has minnows and that's the ticket for the day? I'll use them and one of my favorite rigs is a small jig with a minnow trailer. I just fish the dead ones out of their buckets to use.
Good job!
