Smithville
Family Reunion was June 8th-11th last week. My "scouting" trips on the 6th and 7th were to try to find some kind of pattern for when people were in town.
Ended up only going out one day--Friday, June 9th--with my niece's husband and my great-nephew. Trolling cranks is easy enough, even for a 3 year old! (Heck, if *I* can do it...anyone can!!)
Bandit 300's. Any color. Paxton caught several, including a 13" beast on a 3' kiddie pole (which he insisted he use!) Crazy!

Still trying to get him to hold the fish. He'll hold the little bluegills he catches at the pond, but...I guess these are too big and scary? (Probably why Keeferfish prefers the little ones??
)
Ended up going again by myself on Tuesday (06/13) in the evening. It was a VERY different story! While I did pick up two or three crappie, they were no joes. (Or...as Smithville Lake calls them, yes joes...if you want to!)
Not sure why it was so different?! Yeah, we got a bunch of rain over the weekend. And...I was out in the evening instead of the morning, like on 06/07 and 06/09, but...other than that...everything was the same except the bite and the quality of the fish!
So...I put up the cranking rods and broke out the livescope to try to pick off a few on nearby timber. Tons of fish...mostly shorts. But a couple good ones. (10"-ers)

Didn't keep any. Mostly just trying to figure out how to run this livescope and figure out the size of the fish based on the size of the marks on the screen. It's maddening but VERY addicting!
Gonna have to try that again soon...maybe up river where maybe some larger fish live? IDK...
Stay tuned.
