Great info
I always wear a Mustang Survival cold water emersion suit (bibs and parka-Catalyst) in the winter. That cold water will make a rock out of the best swimmer...I still wake up in the night from time to time from some of the close calls I had duck hunting big water...Kinda bulky but very warm and very doable especially when rigging...Most important equipment I own....won't go without it, couldn't recommend it higher.
Foam PFDs / Clothing
Fellows I have a striker flotation ice suit I bought for ice fishing(bibs and coat) that I always wear in winter. Very warm, comfortable and will save your life. Check out the striker videos on falling through the ice.
these suits aren't cheap, but they are a drop in the bucket compared to what most of us have sunk in boats, trucks, rods, gear...and drowning in 38 degree water.
I always carry a dry set of clothes with me in the boat just for this reason. Once you get out of the water its still important to have something warm to put on!
