Default First Time Lake of the Ozarks

Monday will be my maiden voyage on Lake of the Ozarks. I have heard about the dock shooting and I want to give that a try for a day. I don't know where to put in but Coffman is closest to home so that's where I'm headed. I'm gonna try main lake docks with an assortment of plastics. Wish me Luck.

First off watch Mr Baker's video on dock shooting and read all the last threads on LOZ. Sounds like all the fish are being caught in deeper water so you will need to start at the front of the coves and work your way back. Keep your eyes open for ropes, cables or chains on sides and slips which have trees tied on to them down in the water. Fish cleaning stations are a good sign also. Shoot jig in between dock insulation and boat lifts. On open slips shoot or cast to the back and vary your retrieve. Watch your line as it sink and when you see the twich, reel them in. Some post have them catching them all the way down on the bottom and others bite right as the jig hits the water so keep trying. 90% or higher docks do not hold fish. Good luck and take pictures of the fish.

Good luck, you should have success. They are still biting fairly aggressive. If the wind allows it, fish a light (1/32) jig. You'll want a slow drop. They've been hitting it hard.
Nothing huge, but quite a few in the 9 1/2 to 11" range. And they are not as deep as you would think.

Slip corking minnows with a long jigging pole in shaded swim decks has also been good otherwise dock shooting should get it done

Follow up to how our day ended up. A friend and put in a Coffman at about 1030 and ran straight across the lake. Hit a few docks, no luck nothing on the graph. Moved up river to a new set, still nothing graph was still empty. Moved a third time and found the bait. Caught a bunch of short fish off three docks. Ended up keeping 13 fish with just over half being white bass. Red plastic baits worked the best and a nibble was important. Had a fun day and lucked out with the weather. I have a recording of my graph that I'm going to try to download and post. We will see if I can get it on here.

If you find the dinks, you may as well not waste your time. It seems like the keepers are all congregated together. Not sure what makes one dock hold quality fish and the others hold shorts, but it was feast or famine for us Sunday. A buddy of mine fished over near PB2 and had the same experience. He was catching dinks and the occasional keeper and then finally came across the mother load on one dock. They caught several limits off that loan dock.
