Going to the Big Cedar lodge in mid sept to see my son and meet his family for the first time.

Pulling the boat as I am told that my grand daughter likes to fish.

Only there for three days and would like to see her catch a few.

Any tips that you guys could give? All I have heard is that it is clear???

If you don't already have it download the MO fish 2 app to your phone, it has a map with all of the places MDC has placed structure in the lake. It's a good place to start. For me I did decent catching crappie in creek fed coves away from the main lake. Brush piles on north facing banks were the ticket. Early morning and evening will be best.

It is also a great lake for catching bass.

The northern and southern extremities of the lake aren't as clear as the mid-lake areas. Try the long creek or Cricket Creek area in the south and Flat Creek up north. Enjoy your trip with the family.

It is clear and deep. Mostly steep rocky banks, no vegetation. Submerged trees in places, lot of cedars. I'd work back in the creeks as RLCRAPPIE says above. Hope you do good.

You could also try Taneycomo if you want, because it will only be a short drive to pull the boat from big cedar

if your at Big Cedar your already on the Long Creek which in my opinion is a great area of the lake. Check out the MDC app for brush piles, its a good place to start. I usually always bass fish down there so my crappie skills are week, but we hit trees till we find them usually. Its weird fishing that deep but once you figure it out its a great lake.

We are also visiting Big Cedar lodge Sept 2-6, and are planning to bring our 18' pontoon, so this thread is very helpful. Thanks to everyone for the info. I just downloaded the MDC app and like what it shows.
