Going to be down at our place on the Little Niangua arm of LOZ this weekend. Don't want spots or coordinates...just a quick update on what's been producing. Going to have some kids with me, so hoping to get into some crappie or white bass.
Thanks, Guys!
Wish I had some news for you but I have not been to the lake lately.
Well this is not the best of news....
Was there last weekend and did some prospecting.
Caught 2 deep in brush about 18' deep.
Caught 2 trolling in 30' of water.( lots of baitfish )
And managed to catch a 4-3/4 lb. bass while trolling.
Did not have minnows so it could of changed the vertical fishing presentation.
Water temp was 74 in the Glaize arm.
All fish were released.
I'll be there again this weekend and try it again for a few hours.
Thanks guys. I'm going to try fishing some deep brush piles. Will see what happens. Will let you know how it goes.
I wasn't too far from the LN. Caught quite a few short fish last Saturday, mainly shooting in the dock stalls. Caught only 1 fish over 12" and maybe 5 or 6 around the 10" mark. But the majority were short fish. Bite was fairly lite, used 1/16oz jig head and blue ice Bobby Garland baby shad. Fish were close to the bottom, didn't matter if you were fishing a dock in 25' or 10', the bite came a couple feet off the bottom.
Ln2loz , i also will be down at that end of the lake ( val - e - vue resort ) , will post anything that i might stumble across so keep an eye on this thread and if you do any good keep us informed
Hit a couple deep brush piles very early. 15-20 FOW with top of piles around 10-12 ft down. Caught 10 or so tight lining a Bobby Garland tube with crappie nibble. Caught a few white bass too. Came back to the dock and caught a doz or so doing same over brush under the dock in the shade. Mostly all shorts...as in most 9" or under. Caught 3 or 4 10-11. They all went back. Whites were busting around me so I couldn't resist throwing a crank into the fray... Caught 5 or six that way and then, the text came that it was time for breakfast! Will be back at it again in the morning.
Sounds like some fun , we pulled cranks from Larry gale to mouth of little niangua in 30 fow at 1.5 to 2 .0 mph and ended evening with 17 between 11 -13 inch's , 3 whites and 3 eating kitty cats . Crayfish color was best lure followed by sparkle minnow
keep your lines tight as you never know
That's a good evening of fishing. I've never trolled cranks for crappie. Gonna give it a go when we are back down the week of the fourth! Any tips would be appreciated!! I see a lot of guys use Bandit 200s and 300s. Are there others that work well?
