Hey, D....was it really a "free" replacement? Or more like, "free-with-a-$50-shipping-and-handling-charge", or some other such co-pay/deductible? If the former, what was the brand? Cuz I've just never heard anything like that these days.

That's a great idea! I was just going to throw out a rod with a broken tip, but now I may
try your suggestion to repair it. Just need to find something that small to fit in the tip
of a "light" rod. Thanx again for posting.

Dave, that is why I went the roll pin route. The area mine broke was so tiny on the inside, I'm not sure even a toothpick would have fit. For about $4 you can buy an assortment of roll pins at harbor freight to see exactly what size you need that has about a million pins in it.

I did something similar but instead of a roll pin, I cut one of the boys old bicycle flag fiberglass poles to a 3" length. Chucked it up in a powerdrill and sanded it until it was the right tapered size to fit tight into either sides of the broken portions of the rod. Trim off the unsanded portion in the chuck.
