Default Prairie Lee 4-23 and 4-24

Fished Prairie Lee in KC Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. Saturday evening I didn't get a bite, fished anywhere from up on the bank to out in 20 fow, using minnows and jigs. Fished until dark because I thought the bite would heat up at the end of the day, but nope, nothing. Went back Sunday afternoon and did battle with the wind. Finally caught one dink on a orange jig with bobby garland in about 10 fow and thought it may start to heat up, but nope. I finally found a calm spot and put on a minnow about 4 feet under bobber, fishing in about 6 fow, caught a nice 2 lb bass, 3 blue gill, and one more dink crappie. Others I talked to weren't catching either, but we all agreed it should be starting to heat up here within a week. Water temp is anywhere from 62-67 so it seems like it should be on, but it's still a little early for Prairie Lee I guess.

Keep after 'em, Bernie. Did you ever make it down to Truman?

If not....Camp is starting this week! Perfect time to come by!

I would guess it is late.

When I fished a lot at Prairie Lee I did the best March 25-April 12 or so. Early spawners, but that was 8 years ago.

Minnows were also head and shoulders above jigs, one of the few lakes that I fished where I would go out of my way to get minnows.

Bc. It was nice to see you out there on sunday. I had the boat in that calm spot with my 2 kids wife and her mom.

We ended up finding a spot that held a ton of dinks after you left.

Its been a tough year there. Ive caught some nice ones here and there but not like last year.

Yeah Joe I went to Truman last Friday night. I posted about the trip on Saturday I believe. I caught 7 nice ones, it wasn't like the legend but it was a good first run. Hopefully I can get back down there soon. Have fun at camp!!

Hey Dester nice to see you here, I wasn't sure if you were on this forum or not. Good to hear you found them, even if they were dinks. I bet the big ones will start moving up shallow in another week or so. Best of luck and I hope to see you out there again! Bernie
