Left work at 2:10, bolted to the lake, launched with one casting rod and two dipping rods.
Followed some advice and the pattern I was on Sunday. Shallow water, not really on the bank, wateras shallow as 18” held fish as much as 30 yards from shore. Caught some males and females slow retrievinga jig head with minnow past stumps on muddy flats.
Kept a limit of mixed size with most being 11” or betterthrew back ten or so with some 5” crappie that were not counted. Found a swarm of small ones and you had tokeep your bait out of the water to keep them off.
Used the casting rod one time to cast to a spot that alwaysholds a fish this time of year, it paid off, that jig was in his mouth beforethe bobber hits the water.
Enjoyed the change in pace, minnows definitely increased thebite and since I had a short day that was my goal.
Longer day tomorrow, only working until noon.
Equipment used today:
Mr Crappie 10# high vis, various reels (line holders) allspinning type, 10’ Sam Heaton and 12’ Sam Heaton super sensitive rear reel seatdipping rods. Casting rod was a Shakespear7’ ul and a Plueger spinning real with 10’ Berkley Solution clear line.
Had to substitute a wire type minnow net since my woodenhandle orange net was hanging in the boat locker, off all things, I missed theheck out of that oversized minnow net.
